Carey Rose O’Connell
I have written poetry in various forms for a number of years, however, my vocation as a poet only solidified in 2010. This change in my writing life inspired the launch of my website, The World Poetized in early 2011. I construct poetry of all styles, inventing five forms and finding a particular passion for micropoetry, which can be as few as six words.
I have found a beautiful connection sharing moments in short form and began blending micropoetry and photography into a form I coined as “PoeArt” which is captured in my book Snapshots. Through poetic interpretation, all barriers, borders and separation can be permeated to help readers feel the truth of our commonality.
I have always been fascinated with animals, landscapes, nature, abstract objects and well, everything. I picked up my first camera at the age of eight – my Mom’s Rolleiflex. Since then, it’s been like magic. I have migrated seamlessly from film to digital over the last 18 years and continue my life-long love of photography.
Most days I just want to grab my camera and shoot, so while I don’t set out to shoot any particular subject, I use my eye for composition and attention to lighting and detail to capture pleasing and unique photographs of things that interest me. More often than not, many of my images inspire me to create a new series that always takes me in a direction I didn’t know I was going. It’s always a delightful surprise!
